WHAT'S UP FIVEEIGHTY FRIENDS!

I hope you had a eventful weekend, despite the rain! It looks like the next couple days might be a bit of the same in precipitation, but I’ll try to give you some inside events to attend.

April is coming to a close and we’re jumping head first into May this weekend with a fiesta, and the rain doesn’t look like it’s going to be coming down on our party!

LOCAL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT:

The Boho Teepee is a great, local place to shop. Whether you’re shopping for yourself or for a gift, you can’t go wrong with shopping here.

If you don’t know what exactly you’re looking for, the owner, Tani, will be happy to help you figure it out and find it. From Shoes to hats, she has the outfit you need. Need accessories to go with your outfit? She has jewelry, belts, and bags too! And if you need something to add to your house, she has blankets, towels, mugs, and even some local art.

The shop also has a good variety of men’s clothing as well; including shoes, button up shirts(short and long), t-shirts, hats, and more.

The Boho Teepee is a proud retailer for Pendleton, Judy Blue Jeans, Minnetonka, and many other brands. Be sure to check them out if you haven’t yet, or if it has been a while!

The barn will be filled with thousands of flowers to choose from to create a custom bouquet for you or for a gift! One ticket gets you a flower jar, flower food, selection of flowers, and light refreshments while you create! You only need a ticket if you want a bouquet, but at least one person in your group needs a ticket to attend. Play Land will be open for the kiddos as well($5 per child ages 2-18)! Turpin tunes has recently started back up again, where musicians gather every third Thursday of the month and jam at Turpin theatre in the Gaslight Theatre! May’s lineup has yet to be announced, but we will update you when we know. There will be a cash bar available.

DID YOU KNOW?

Founded in 1932, the Tri-State Music Festival by Russel L Wiley, the band director at Phillips University. It started very modestly with less than 10 bands from Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas.

The festival used to feature a carnival and parade, all in downtown Enid and has since been moved. In fact, years ago the carnival was actually right in the center of the downtown square, in the street between the Court House and the Post Office. Them later moved to the parking lot of the old Mark Price Arena(now Stride Bank Center Grand Ballroom).

Tri-State seems to be less of an event like it used to be, and sure has changed over the years. But if you want to watch the participants perform, the schedule is linked above!

START YOUR DAY WITH COFFEE!

There may be many places to get your morning coffee, but only a couple are locally owned.

My favorite is Da Vinci’s Coffeehouse and Gelateria. They have two very convenient locations; one on Van Buren and one on Owen K Garriott. Both have drive a drive through! If you aren’t in the mood for coffee, they have gelato and some healthy food options as well.
